Yanson Group of Bus Companies

Rural Transit of Mindanao Incorporated

In 1981, the Yansons ventured to Mindanao. They bought out Fortune Express and Bachelor Express, both Cagayan de Oro-based bus companies in 1985, and formed Rural Transit of Mindanao. However, the formation of Rural was divided from Bachelor Express when the former owners of Bachelor and Yanson Group agreed to retain the name Bachelor Express as one of the conditions of the contract of sale. Bachelor Express was then named as Bachelor Express Inc.

In 2005, they bought out Lilian Express Inc. and sister company Mary May Express, its fiercest business rival, and became the dominant transit company in the island of Mindanao. This expanded their operations to the whole Western Mindanao, making Rural as the predominant transport operator in the Mindanao Region.

Rural Transit (Mindanao), Inc. holds annual meeting of stockholders. OVY and LRY remain in control.

On 10 February 2021, Rural Transit (Mindanao), Inc. (“RTMI”) held its annual stockholders’ meeting.

During the meeting, Olivia V. Yanson, Leo Rey V. Yanson, Charles M. Dumancas, Rey C. Ardo, Anita G. Chua, and Daniel Nicolas P. Golez were re-elected as members of RTMI’s Board of Directors.

Following the election of the directors, the Board held an organizational meeting wherein Leo Rey V. Yanson was re-appointed as Chairman of the Board and President of RTMI, while Olivia V. Yanson was re-appointed as RTMI’s Corporate Secretary and Treasurer.

Despite proper and timely notice, stockholders Roy V. Yanson (“Roy”), Ricardo V. Yanson, Jr. (“Ricky”), Ma. Lourdes Celina Y. Lopez (“Celina”), Ma. Susan F. Yanson, and Juan Manuel Lopez were absent.

Roy, Celina and Ricky are believed to be unable to attend the meeting because they are currently hiding abroad as fugitives from justice together with their sister Emily V. Yanson (“Emily”). As of this writing, there are several outstanding warrants of arrest against the four siblings, Roy, Celina, Ricky and Emily (the “Y4”) for Carnapping and for Grave Coercion issued by the courts of Bacolod City. Just recently, warrants of arrest have also been issued against Emily for the crimes of Perjury and Falsification of Vallacar Transit Inc.’s (“VTI”) General Information Sheets (“GIS”). It is those same questionable GISes that are being used by Y4 to claim their majority ownership of VTI.

The Chairman and President, Leo Rey V. Yanson assures the public that despite the challenges faced in 2020, RTMI remains strong and resilient. It continues to be steadfast in its goal to serve the Filipino people. RTMI remains committed to providing the riding public with the most reliable means of public transportation for all.

The newly appointed Board is excited to see how they can continue to push boundaries to provide quality transportation to every Filipino despite the challenges of the pandemic.
